How to work out a dance floor size
Multiply the guest count by the share dancing at once to get the dancers, then multiply by the space each needs. Round up to whole panels, keeping the floor close to square. For 100 guests at 40 percent and 3 square feet: 40 dancers, 120 square feet, a 12 x 12 floor of 16 panels of 3 x 3 ft.
- Standard, 3 square feet per dancer: the figure most rental companies quote, a full floor during the peak songs.
- Comfortable, 4.5 square feet: 9 square feet per couple, one 3 x 3 panel each.
- Roomy, 5 square feet: line dances, kids and energetic crowds.

- Quantity based availability. Two of the same item is a quantity of two, and the database refuses to promise the same unit twice, with a capacity check that looks at peak concurrent use rather than a simple total.
- Date and time first booking, so a customer never picks something that is already out, including the turnaround time you need between two jobs.
