Cookie Policy
The cookies and browser storage Rentopus uses, what each one is for, and why there is no cookie banner.
The short version
- Four cookies of our own: one keeps you signed in, one remembers your language, one remembers how you left the dashboard menu, and one remembers which campaign or partner link first brought you to us.
- Stripe sets two cookies on the payment step of a booking, only to prevent card fraud.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, on our site or on booking websites. The link cookie names a campaign or a partner, never you. We count visits ourselves, without cookies, and our public site also uses Ahrefs' cookieless counter.
- If that ever changes, we will update this page first and ask for consent where required.

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between pages. Browsers also let a website keep small notes in "local storage", which stays on your device and is never sent to us. This policy lists both, and why we use them.
1. Our cookies
We use only cookies that are strictly necessary for the Service to work, that remember a choice you made, or that remember which link brought you to us.

None of them is used to track you across websites or to show you advertising.
2. Stripe's cookies, on the payment step only
When a customer pays a deposit or a balance on a booking website, the card form is provided by
Stripe, our payment processor, and it sets two cookies of its own: __stripe_mid (one year) and
__stripe_sid (30 minutes). Stripe uses them only to detect and prevent card fraud. They are not
set anywhere else on Rentopus. Stripe's own privacy policy explains
them.
3. What your browser remembers for you
These notes stay in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to us and hold nothing about who you are.

4. What we do not use
No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no social media pixels. That is why our website shows no cookie banner: there is nothing optional to consent to.
Visit counts. We count visits ourselves, without a third party, on our public site, our sign up and sign in pages, and the booking websites we host: the page, the site that sent you, campaign tags in the link, your country and region, and your type of device. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. No IP address is stored: it is used in the moment to make an anonymous identifier that resets every day and cannot be linked back to you, so it cannot follow you to other websites or from one day to the next. Page views are kept 60 days and daily totals 25 months. That is why no consent banner is needed. The dashboard is not counted.
Ahrefs Web Analytics, on our public site only. Our public site also loads Ahrefs' visit counter, which shows us how people find our pages through search. It sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device, and does not store your IP address or anything that identifies you, so it cannot follow you to other websites or from one day to the next. It does not run on the sign up and sign in pages, the dashboard or booking websites. Apart from it, the only third party script is Stripe's card form, on the payment step of a booking.
Booking websites hosted on Rentopus set no analytics or advertising cookies. Their visits are counted the same anonymous way, website by website, to run and improve the Service. A rental business that adds third party tools through its own domain or website is responsible for them.
5. Your browser settings
You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block the sign in cookie, you will not be able to use the dashboard, and if you block Stripe's cookies, the card form may refuse a payment. Blocking the rest only means the site forgets your choices.
6. Changes
If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, such as for analytics, we will update this page before it goes live and ask for your consent wherever the law requires it. This policy is also available in French.
